Wallets to Go Extinct by 2015, PayPal Predicts

Digital currency will signal the end of the wallet as we know it by 2015, predicted PayPal president Scott Thompson in a blog post. Thompson made the prediction alongside an announcement that PayPal broke past 100 million active accounts. “Consumers are increasingly giving up traditional payment methods such as cash and checks and turning to a more modern—and anytime, anywhere—form of payment,” he blogged. “We believe that by 2015 digital currency will be accepted everywhere in the US—from your local corner store to Walmart.” “We will no longer need to carry a wallet.”
