Importing your merchandise from China and exactly what to take into account

Development in The far east has raised eyebrows in many other countries and every one wants to participate in it. Sourcing from China is actually straight-forward and this has made it even a lot more reassuring. You will discover business possibilities or profit growth by directly importing your products from china. If you want to import from china you need to figure out the services offered by different consignees. Some of the import and export procedure are open to select – it all is determined by the commodity you might be importing. You identify the commodity; the cost is estimated based on the written agreement. Once the cost is decided upon, it’s important to follow the government’s rules and regulations. Understand the Foreign Trade Regulation and also the Custom law regulation.

First waiting berth for small container ships on Maasvlakte

Last Friday, the first waiting berth for short sea and feeder vessels went into use on the Maasvlakte. It involves the former Tor Line berth, which the Port of Rotterdam Authority has made suitable for small container vessels. The waiting berth was used straight away by the 137-metre "Öland", owned by the shipping company X-Press Container Lines. The ship had unloaded containers at the Amazonehaven and had to wait approximately ten hours until all the return cargo had arrived at the terminal and could be taken on board.

Hamburg Port Boosts Container Traffic 14.2 Percent

Annual gain reaffirms port's position as second-largest container hub in Europe

The port of Hamburg boosted container traffic 14.2 percent in 2011 from a year ago, consolidating the port's position as the second-largest container hub in Europe. Throughput at the port hit 9 million 20-foot equivalent units last year, while overall traffic expanded 9.1 percent, or 11 million metric tons, to 132.2 million tons, largely because of higher container and coal shipments. Hamburg boosted its share of the fiercely competitive north European container market by a small but significant 1.3 percent, outpacing growth at rivals Antwerp, up 2.3 percent at 8.66 million TEUs, and Rotterdam, which grew traffic 6 percent to 11.9 million TEUs. “For 2012 we are also reckoning with an increase in throughput figures, although this will slow down compared to 2011,” said Claudia Roller, CEO of Port of Hamburg Marketing.

Rotterdam sets itself up as king of containerised reefer trade worldwide

Sri Lanka Ports Authority
Rotterdam tops global container terminals for number of connections for reefer containers, twice as many as its rival Hamburg, and 5,000 more connections than PSA Singapore which has 7,000 connections with a total throughput of 29 million TEU, says a port authority statement. Its six main ocean terminals boast 11,000 connections alone with a further 1,000 distributed over specialised inland shipping terminals (300) and depots for container storage (800), according to a statement from the Rotterdam port authority. Most of these connections allow for FEUs with an average connection time of three to four days, the port’s maximum output could amount to two million TEU per year not taking into account seasonality of perishables.

Foldable Electric Cars To Launch In Europe Next Year

Foldable Electric Cars To Launch In Europe Next Year
Researchers from MIT have developed a highly efficient electric car for commuting around the city. Dubbed the Hiriko, the tiny vehicle is powered by a single electric engine and can fold in on itself once parked to become even smaller. In addition, the wheels can rotate 360 degrees making parallel parking much easier as drivers can simply steer sideways into the parking spot. Retailing for $16,210, Hiriko cars will initially be launched in European cities as part of a car-sharing program and is expected to be ready by 2013. No official information has been released on which cities will be participating, but Berlin and Barcelona have expressed interest. via PSFK: http://www.psfk.com/2012/01/foldable-electric-cars.html#ixzz1lPIVFfjn
